Junior High at White Sulphur consists of 7th and 8th grade. Each group has art for one semester. During the 7th grade year students dive into a variety of 2-dimensional project. They are given an opportunity to draw with graphite pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, oil pastels and chalk pastels. They try their hands at mosaics. They make linoleum block prints. And, they get to paint with both watercolors and acrylics In 8th grade students switch gears and try their hands at 3-dimensional art. They have a chance to work additively making block letters, wire figures, and found object sculptures. They also work subtractively carving foam and plaster. High school students are in art for a full year. They have a variety of projects which give them the opportunity to work both 2-dimensionally and 3-dimensional. In addition to having projects connected to a survey of art history through out the year, Art I students keep a sketchbook. Below you can follow the tabs to see some of the work Art I and Advanced Art students have produced.
