One way artists make a living through their art is to design greeting cards. We celebrate birthdays, graduations, marriage, and promotions. We send our condolences, ask for forgiveness, hope people get well, and just say hi, all with the help of greeting cards. For sketchbook 4-2 your job is to design a greeting card in the style of one of the following artists. (You should recognize their names from our current art history unit).
Benjamin West, Edvard Munch, Vincent Van Gogh, George Seurat, Honore Daumier, John Constable, Mary Cassatt, Gustav Klimt, or Claude Monet
This does not need to be an actual card. You are designing the front and including whatever text would be part of your card on the back or on a separate piece of paper. The front may also include text. As you decide what artist style to copy remember it should relate in some way to the occasion. In other words, if you use Edvard Munch's The Scream as your inspiration for a Happy Birthday card, the text should show some humor/satire.
If you wish to change the dimensions of your card (to better fits the artist you’ve chosen) feel free to work outside your sketchbook just let me know where I can find this assignment when it’s due.
